“As a choreographer and performer, my work is inspired by my father's journey of crossing the Mexico border into the United States. I knew it was my duty as the daughter of an immigrant and as an artist to step up and reflect on the times. I owe it to my ancestors and to those who will come after me.”

Felicia B Avalos defines her choreography by the non-traditional pairings of movement practices, ranging from Muay Thai boxing to Mexican ballet folklórico and Argentine tango to Brazilian jiu jitsu. This innovative approach drives her to perform with an exploring quality of how far she can expand the movement from the studio to the stage.
